A Woman. Rebellion. Defiant. Ambitious. Confident. Modern. Those were the words uttered from the loud speakers on Sunday, February 11th as Black-owned luxury brand, Maui X Lolita (MxL) delivered its Fall/Winter 2024 collection at New York Fashion Week, with its take on “A Modern Rebellion.” Showcasing a 12-piece collection of corporate-chic office wear with five colorful, Moroccan leather handbags, and the introduction to three brand new fragrances, MxL gave a nod to today’s office baddies looking to spice up their corporate wardrobe. Founded by mother-daughter duo Lolita (designer) and Maui Malone (creative director), their latest Fall/Winter collection breaks outside the traditional fashion norms by incorporating bold, gender-bending silhouettes and fabrics, along with pops of electric indigo for a day in the office. From an indigo wool trench adorned with hand sewn crystals, to a denim jumpsuit and a tailored black and white houndstooth two-piece suit, all imagined and created by head designer Lolita Malone, the collection includes pantsuits, dresses, short sets, and skirts. The make-up boasted bright blue and purple eyeshadows with a statement making red lip by make-up artist Dominique Noelle, with models being styled with MxL’s new Moroccan leather handbags in either embossed blue croc, copper metallic, embossed green snake leather, and embossed pink croc.
